IPL 2023: “Shouldn’t Go To A Stage Where Dhoni Gets Banned” – Virender Sehwag’s Strong Warning To CSK

On Monday (April 17), Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2023. However, CSK’s batting was excellent, with the team scoring 226 runs. The bowlers, on the other hand, were not up to the task, as the RCB hitters hammered their way to the target. They actually bowled 11 extras, including 6 wide balls. This did not impress Virender Sehwag.

CSK bowlers have been erratic and have provided numerous extras during the campaign. After bowling 13 wides against the Lucknow Super Giants earlier in the IPL 2023. This provoked MS Dhoni, the skipper, to strike out at his bowlers during the post-match presentation ceremony.

“They’ll must bowl no no-balls & fewer wides.” “We’re bowling a lot of extra pitches and need to cut them out or they’ll continue to play under a new captain,” Dhoni stated after the LSG game just a few days ago.

Virender Sehwag has stated that if the bowlers do not manage to minimise the number of extras, MS Dhoni may be suspended for sluggish over rate.

“Dhoni was visibly upset because he had previously stated that he wants the bowlers to reduce the number of no-balls and wides.” CSK had bowled two to three extra overs before bowling another extra over against RCB. It should not get to the point when Dhoni is suspended and CSK is forced to play without their skipper. With his knee injury, it appears he will only play a few more matches. He is continuously pushing himself, but if his bowlers continue to throw wides and no-balls, Dhoni will need to rest,” Sehwag added.

CSK’s bowling has been a source of concern for me since day one. They must focus on that department. What else can they do? This season, they will have to make do with whatever resources they have. Bowlers must improve their accuracy. Looking at their performance against RCB, they bowled 30-35 dot balls and didn’t let RCB to score a run in six overs. Despite this, they ended up losing 218 runs because they let up far too many sixes and fours,” the former India opener explained.
