Indian Hockey Team is out from FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup

India hockey team loses to New Zealand in a crossover game and is eliminated from the title race. At the Sunday second crossover game at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India lost to  4-5 (3-3) New Zealand in the penalty shootout. The defeat put an end to India’s 48-year dream for a World Cup medal.

While Sean Findlay scored twice for his side in the shootouts, New Zealand also received scores from Nic Woods, Hayden Phillips, and Sam Lane.

Harmanpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh scored for India while Raj Kumar Pal scored twice .

Graham Reid, the head coach of India, stated on Sunday that the team needed a mental fitness coach moving forward after the hosts lost to New Zealand in a crossover game on penalties to lose the hockey World Cup.

India hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh said, “I was eager to score and there was a chance for us to win the match. Despite our best efforts, we failed to succeed.”

Even if our India hockey team is out and loses the chance to win the Hockey world cup 2023, we still got the back of our team as we all knew they tried really hard. And even if it is not the outcome we wanted, our team will definitely bounce back.
